Please rate my video, feel free to leave comments, and subscribe if you like my work. In this how-to I upgrade an Acer Aspire One Happy2 (same instructions for AOD 257) from 1 gig to 2 gig’s of ram. The memory used to upgrade was 2 gigabytes of Kingston 204 pin ddr2-1333: I imagine all 204 pin ddr2 memory is compatible the intel website state 2 gig of ddr3 is the max capacity. The Memory removed is GDDR3-1333 1GB 128×8 1.5v EP; I have never before heard of GDDR3 laptop memory and was unable to find very good information about this. Strange enough, the specs for this laptop state 1 gig ddr2 memory as the standard. I read unofficially GDDR3 laptop memory is designed to assist embedded graphics chips in video memory. After replacing with 2 gigs of DDR2 I do not notice any change in video quality, still plays youtube 720p and netflix full screen with no lag plus the extra memory really makes this thing fly. This guy is not an expert. I’m not an expert either, but the 2 things most commonly accessed on a laptop/netbook are upgrade items. Memory & drive. Remove battery. Do NOT remove ANY screws! The bck plate with the battery release tabs, gently snaps out. Use a tiny? screwdriver and gently lift the corners & go around the seam lifting lightly and remove cover.Thz exposes the ram & drive. Replace the ram as you would on any laptop, snap the cover back on, put battery on. u now hv bn educated.
@Jonedcc I upgraded my happy2 memory by removing the bottom hatch, also broke 3 clips. But ik worked like a charm only 2min work. The hatch is still ferm inplace.? Sorry for shitty english lol.
i have been lookig at rams for my? aspire one happy..and some rams for it are listed as 200 pin and some 204 pin does this matter ,,,,thanks
@lobzdik From the intel website this processor states it can handle ddr3. It does not have a specific frequency mentioned but either way, the computer will only run at its max, so if you get too fast ram, it will slow it down. I used a small hardware toolkit, you can get them? at most hardware stores; it came with a small flat head just as wide as the pin, I just pushed in the pin and snapped in each section at a time.
dont mind my other question, i installed the same stick as you and works great, BUT NOW i cannot get the far right keyboard pin back in!! it is hidden behind the screen pivot, so how did you? get to it? thanks
do you need to use the same frequency? ram, or can it be a faster one? basically, the only thing that need to comply is the 204 pin? thank you
Just did it to my 1 day old? netbook..thx this vid helped alot!
Thanks? for this as it is a good start and one way around the upgrade path.
I also broke two plastic clips on my wife’s Happy2 trying to remove the “door” on the back as per the last Acer one model. I still think there must be an easier way to do this without pulling the dam thing apart and voiding the warranty??? I look forward to a new video folks.
@RSmith733 The existing video I watched inspired me to create? this as the first model had the ram on top, just under the keyboard. This new generation they moved it to the underside o the mobo (go figure) and I did not see a video.
@RSmith733 There is more than one way to pluck a chicken, Bud. I saw the hatch? on the bottom and I found all edges of it are held by cheap plastic clips, in attempting to remove the door I broke three of these clips. If you are brave enough to attempt that method, I suggest you create a tutorial.
