One way we can cope with life’s advancements is by knowing how to improve thinking skills. There are people who turn to drugs, products or chemicals just so they can improve thinking capabilities. They spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars abusing these so-called miracle products just so they can increase their brain power and improve thinking skills. What we should all know is that by merely changing our lifestyle, we can actually achieve optimum thinking capacity for our brain. Thinking after all, is an ability that involves logic, reason, concentration, and memory to name a few. Being able to improve thinking skills is possible if you can do the following guidelines.

1. Expand your mind through regular exercise. This involves doing some light or heavy reading, solving puzzles and mathematical problems, writing short stories and poetry, etc. By challenging your mind every single day, you will have the power to improve thinking skills. This is because more brain neurons will be produced, which will in turn form new connections therefore forging the brain’s ability to function better.

2. Have adequate rest and nourishment. This is old news actually. It should already come naturally to us to want to take care of our mental and physical health by having enough rest and right amounts of healthy food. By doing so, you will be amazed at how alert you will be. Do this on a regular basis to improve thinking skills.

3. Know what your learning style is. There are people who learn better when they are allowed to acquire knowledge in the best way they know how. If you are a visual kind of person, having pictures will help you improve thinking skills. If you are an auditory person, listening to something is how you learn best. Kinesthetic persons on the other hand, learn best when they are able to move their bodies and be hands on in doing certain projects.

There are many other tricks you can do to improve thinking skills. But these three are the most crucial of all. Once you learn these guidelines by heart, you will be assured of a better and more focused way of thinking than before.

So you have forgotten where have you kept your spectacles once again because you will need concentration improvement. You have tried finding it everywhere only to realize there it is dangling on your head. These circumstances not only make you feel a butt of jokes but starts questioning your state of mind. If this continues to happen on a daily basis it can disgust not you alone but everyone around you. Far too many people suffer memory loss but it typically depends on the frequency of forgetting. Today’s lifestyle is so demanding that we have barely anytime for ourselves this often leads to important information or at times generic information slipping thru our brain. To add to the woes the diet that we take barely does anything to replenish our brain Unhealthy habit sans exercises has left us living a robotic life. But unfortunately unlike robots our brains are not fitted with computers and it depends on healthy habits, right diet, concentration improvement and proper exercise to improve memory.

Following are the various ways to improve memory:

One should exercise regularly to keep the mind and body active and attentive. As they say healthy body houses healthy brain. One can also improve memory by keeping the brain active by actively participating in brainteasers and games. One such easy and good game is “Memory” that can be played with a pack of playing cards. The best part about this game is that it can be played alone and with as many as four people. All one has to do is to spread the card evenly on a surface and lift and match the characters. If the characters do not match place the card back to where it was picked up from and wait until after a few chances a match is available and remember where the previous character was laid in the entire bunch of cards. The one who matches more cards wins. Or if you like to play with words try playing scrabble another word game that can challenge your memory and will shake up your vocabulary treasure trove.

These games help improve memory, concentration improvement and physiological functioning. Learning new skills also helps the motor capacity of brain by challenging it. Joining a language school to learn a new language can be quite helpful other than this learning to play new instruments can also be more involving and mentally stressing. Taking the help of technology is also not a bad idea. As more and more computer games are developed one can try to play games that is refreshing and challenging. The coordination it develops between the mind and hand is also great for motor development. Exercise and Yoga helps to keep mind fresh by helping its concentration power to develop thru meditation. It helps our body in two days, first by relaxing our body and second by developing our alert system. The better circulation of blood helps to bring tandem to our brain thereby improving its efficiency.

Relaxation is equally an important element of physical well being for body and brain. As stress causes remembering to become difficult and lose focus. Serious stress related problems calls for a physical examination by a doctor as it can lead to other problem such as insomnia that detoriates mental health and makes memorizing miserable.
Our busy schedule barely allows us to keep sync with our body and brain and leads to serious illness leading to destabilize our memory functions. If our brain is involved in various things the same time it can barely concentrate on one thing and makes for a terrible memory. So in order to improve memory we first need to alter our lifestyle and indulge in good health practices such as regular exercising and healthy eating.

In today’s competitive times, students usually tend to focus on improving immediate grades at school rather than improving their learning skills. Efforts to improve immediate grades can only impact the short term studying scenario of a student; where as for success in all facets of life, it is important to improve overall learning skills.

Learning skills can be defined as a cumulative package of skills like time management, self motivation, leadership, goal setting, stress management, memory enhancement skills and all other skills that are a pre requisite to help students excel not only academically, but in other spheres as well. With increased involvement of students in areas like sports, music, and other extra curricular activities, today the stress is not just on excelling academically but also in activities that go beyond the classrooms. This fierce competition both within and outside the classrooms has led to a sudden prominence in problems arising out of low self confidence, lack of focus, over expectations leading to increased stress, weaker memory etc. amongst school students.

By improving learning skills, students can be better equipped to cope with the added pressure and overcome issues that stem directly from growing expectations and the resultant stress. Students can start by preparing a time schedule for themselves that primarily allocates time for all the major activities. An exercise like this will help student balance his/her school activities with the extra-curricular activities. Earmarking time of for all required activities in this manner and prioritizing between activities and tasks results in lesser pressure on the students and prevents them from having to constantly juggle between places and tasks.

The next key to improving learning skills is to keep one’s motivational and confidence levels high. Do not let a single defeat hamper your confidence levels. It is important to keep in mind that success and defeat are two sides of the same coin. Participating with a complete 100 percent zest adds to the total experience and makes a world of difference in the long run.

Yet another important point in improving learning skills is to hone leadership skills. It is important for students to identify early in their lives, the skills that are required to direct and motivate classmates/friends towards a common goal. Working towards a skill like this right from the formative years will continue to prove beneficial for students long after they have stepped out of the school environment. Honing leadership skills will eventually equip students to become better managers and leaders in their professional lives.

For improving learning skills it is also important for students to effectively set their goals. With students performing a multitude of activities these days, they usually lack a ‘single-minded’ focus. Students are invariably stressing on quantity over quality in an attempt to be a ‘master of all’ and are in the process, neglecting the importance of setting goals and working towards them with a single-minded dedication. Therefore, if as a student you aspire to excel in academics and other aspects of life then, taking out time to jot down those goals and making an action plan to achieve the same, should be the very first step.

Time is, and always will be, a valuable resource for everyone, particularly for school children. Good time management skills coupled with a good memory can keep students in good stead. With voluminous course content it becomes imperative for students to enhance their memory and thus improve their learning skills. Eating healthy food, getting sound sleep, engaging in regular exercises for the brain such as puzzles and other games can also go a long way in enhancing memory and overall recall.

Now that you have realized the importance of improving learning skills, working towards it wholeheartedly will result in holistic success. And I am positive, that with the required skills in place nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.

Keep working hard!

Memorising things is hard. Through out or lives we are trying to memorise everything from events and history to exam answers and a plan for the future. Many students will spend all night trying to remember key facts for exams. It is ironic to think that sleep has such a large effect on memory and learning. All the students that spend all nighters to memorise answers may be doing more damage and be more forgetful than those who get a good nights sleep instead.

For insomniacs it may be sobering news that not only does a lack of sleep affect the memory and recall of exams answers, but also the memory of faces, sceneries, experiences, procedures, and many other things. Our memory of procedural and skills could be the most important and is also the most affected by sleep.

In order to counteract the effects of sleep, people drink coffee. Coffee has caffeine which helps to reduce the feeling of tiredness. The problem with coffee and ultimately caffeine is that all it is doing is masking the symptoms of a lack of sleep. It does not help to improve memory, recall or learning.

When you sleep, your brain tries to sort out all the memories and information from the previous day and file them for future retrieval. It goes through a process called memory consolidation. It is during this process that short-term memories from the day are set as long-term memories.

It is only after a 6 hour period of memory stabilization that memory consolidation occurs. This means that a 6 hour sleep will not have as much of an effect on your memory as an 8 hour sleep would.

When it comes to improving memory there are several techniques available on the market. However, people still face complete failure in improving their memory power. There are several reasons for this.

Most people tend to waste their hard money on various memory products that are actually fake and not meant to enhance memory at all. They purchase these products after watching some of the powerfully directed commercials or reading billboards and newspapers classifieds ads.

Once they see something attractive and promising, they order the products. It is only after purchasing the product that they came to know about its inability to enhance memory or just about any other thing.

Another main reason in this concern is lack of practical knowledge. People don’t have any amount of practical training or very little practical knowledge. It is simple. One cannot purchase a book on body building and obtain the desired look by just reading it.

Most internet savvies usually look for instant results or magic pills. These may be available but would never provide you any sort of results.

The main thing is to attain practical experience and training. This will only make you achieve desired results.

Try to understand that memorizing skill should be natural and absolutely effortless. It should be as natural as a practical ability such as reading. When you read, you don’t think about the process. It occurs naturally.

Memorizing should occur in similar manner. Make it as effortless as breathing. You should memorize fast, efficient and via enjoying the process.

Once you possess memorization skill, you can memorize anything, even an online book. Another reason why people fail is that they get trapped in to the lure of memorization techniques, widely known as memories. People are under a false notion that the more techniques they have, the better memory they have. Hence, they are happy spending money on a lot of books, CD and videos.

Sadly, the fact is that almost 99 per cent of these techniques are inefficient and ineffective. The main reason is that they are outdated and not at all based on natural processes of memory and brain.

Now, as you have been acquainted with so many reasons on why most people fail to enhance their memory, you must stay away from frauds and focus on the fact.

Remember that real memory can only be enhanced via professional help and practical training. You need an instructor who would help you out in this.

To sum up, if you are really interested in enhancing your memory, you must believe in practical training more than anything else. – All the best!

Do you occasionally have one of those “senior moments” where you walk into a room and then totally blank out on why you went in there, or scramble mentally to remember the name of a person to whom you were just introduced? These small memory lapses happen to everyone – they are simply part of the brain’s constant efforts to sort out, prioritize and file away the information it is constantly receiving.

Minor forgetfulness is a normal part of getting older and generally does not affect your life in any significant way. On the other hand, if lapses in memory start to get in the way of your ability to function normally, there may be some cause for concern. Getting lost in a familiar place or repeating the same sentence several times in a single conversation should raise a red flag signaling that there may be a more serious problem.

However, if you believe you are experiencing significant memory loss, you should not automatically assume that you are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Memory is a complex process involving many different areas of the brain, and there are many different causes of memory loss. Most of these are treatable, and even reversible. It is important to remember that in large part, maintaining healthy brain function is under your own control.

Memory loss can be caused by any of the following conditions:

* Stress, Depression, Anxiety
These common psychological disorders may damage the neural pathways in the affected areas of the brain, leading to confusion and a decreased ability to concentrate.

* Stroke
Stroke can cause damage to many different areas of the brain, affecting the ability to process and recall memories.

* Head Injuries
Concussion and other head injuries can cause temporary memory loss.

* Impaired Thyroid Function
Hypo- and hyperthyroidism create hormonal imbalances which may affect memory.

* Medications
Certain medications can cause dementia-like symptoms. Even some topical analgesics used for arthritis pain can cause memory lapses if the liver is not functioning properly and cannot flush these chemicals out of the body quickly enough.

* Environmental Toxins
Carbon monoxide, heavy metals such as lead and mercury, pesticides, and even the chemicals in certain hobby items can interfere with memory and concentration.

* Menopause
The hormonal changes which occur during menopause can create temporary disconnects in memory recall.

* Dietary Deficiencies
Insufficient levels of the vitamins B1 and B12 may impair cognitive ability.

* Excessive Alcohol Consumption and Drug Use
Alcohol and recreational drugs deplete vitamin B1 levels, affecting cognition and memory.

* Natural Aging
Aging can cause brain function to slow down somewhat. Simply taking a bit longer to call up a memory may be misinterpreted as memory loss.

* Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
MCI may be diagnosed when memory loss moves beyond minor gaffs to more significant lapses like forgetting the names of your grandkids or getting lost in a familiar location. MCI can be a precursor of Azheimer’s disease, but it does not always lead to dementia. While it can be frightening and sometimes disruptive, most seniors with MCI are able to live more-or-less normal lives.

* Alzheimer’s Disease
AD is the most common form of dementia. It is degenerative disease caused by the formation of protein deposits in the brain.

* Other Types of Dementia
Senile dementia can have numerous causes, but the results are generally similar. Patients tend to display inappropriate social behavior, emotional disturbance, loss of communication skills, and a deteriorating ability to make judgments. Dementia can result from vascular blockages, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease.

Now for the good news. Amidst all these threats to long-term mental agility, there are plenty of things you can do to improve your cognition and retain your memory skills into your later years. The benefits of these exercises are enormous, both for your mental and your physical well-being.

* Detox
A detoxification program is highly effective in flushing toxins from the body and improving liver function, ensuring that the body can continue to cleanse itself of harmful chemicals.

* Memory exercises – crossword puzzles, Sudoku, reading, writing, and specifically designed memory games all help to keep neural pathways humming along.

* Exercise is vital for a healthy mind and body. Regular physical activity improves blood flow to the brain and reduces the risk of memory loss.

* Diets rich in whole grains, lean proteins, and fresh organic fruits and vegetables give you the nutrients you need while avoiding toxins from pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

* Memory supplements are very useful in enhancing memory, even reversing memory loss in many cases.

Some effective memory supplements:

- Gingko Biloba;
- Ginseng;
- Acetyl-L-carnitine;
- Omega-3 fatty acids;
- Vinpocetine, from the periwinkle plant;
- Huperzine A (Chinese club moss);
- Phosphatyl choline, found in egg yolks and soy;
- Pirecetam, a synthetic memory enhancer.

By taking control now, you are giving yourself every chance at a healthy, fulfilling life. No matter what your age, you will benefit from some simple lifestyle choices and memory enhancing techniques.

Some people are born to be social butterflies, while others need help improving their people skills. If you belong to the latter category, don’t worry! You’re not exactly a lost cause. There are plenty of opportunities for you to grow into a great social butterfly as well!

If you need help improving people skills and learn how to talk to anyone, then this is the article for you.

1) Don’t try too hard.

The first thing you’ll have to do is to stop trying too hard. If you think you always need to be witty and original when chatting with other people, then you’ve been watching too many late night comedy sitcoms.

You might be surprised at how people are willing to talk about the most mundane of things. A simple, “How was your day” can lead to all sorts of different topics.

Be natural. Talk about the things that interest the other person more than your own. Save the witty repertoire for later.

The more time you spend talking to different people, the better you’ll be at improving your people skills.

2) Learn about other cultures.

People who are well-traveled are usually more open and comfortable talking to people. However, not everyone has the money or the luxury to jet off to different parts of the world. But who says you even have to leave your home to learn about other cultures?

Go grab a book, search the web or watch a movie. All these will help you get in touch with your inner “person of the world.”

Not only will the knowledge open your eyes to new cultures and help you to talk to anyone, it will also help you embrace the fact that each person is unique and has something different to offer the world.

3) Make others feel special.

When improving people skills, make others feel special. Remember their names, their (or even their family member’s) birthdays, their favorite color, what’s going on in their lives, etc. Remember anything they said to you about themselves.

This is not so difficult, especially if you have a good memory. To help you remember the details, write them down. Get yourself a notebook and jot down the names of the people you’ve talked to, their interests, and other information about them.

You’ll be surprised at how pleased people will be when you remember something about them. And this is a great way to talk to anyone if you can’t think of anything to say. In turn, they’ll treat you better and this will make it easier for you to relate to other people.

Improving people skills is not an impossible feat. Even the most anti-social of people will benefit a lot from following these tips. As long as you remain open to the idea of communicating with others, then you will go on to become the social butterfly you have always dreamed of becoming.

If the hard disk crashes it is tough to recover it back and in most cases it cannot be recovered. Similarly if Amnesia or Alzheimer disease affects our brain it first destroys our brain cells and affects our memory. Loss of memory renders us useless, as we tend to forget all the skills that we have learnt over the period of time including language too. Any such disease can turn a human being into nothing less than vegetable. In order to occur this or diminish it, we could use improve memory exercises.

All the medications used to regain the memory back are used for brain nourishment. This can only be achieved thru universal nourishment of body and brain. In order to have them work both in tandem with each other we must feed our body properly at the same time keeps it active by participating in physical and mental activities such as jogging and improve memory exercises. Children in their early stages should specifically be taken care of. Right nutrition can ensure their physical as well as mental well being. Right from the stage of pregnancy, future mothers are administered the right dosage of multivitamins and folic acid to help the brain of fetus grow. In cases where folic acid and dietary supplements are not taken low or no mental growth is observed. In their growing phases children are feeded with health drinks as they become choosy and eat what they like. This leads to various deficiencies affecting growth. This has given rise to so many health capsules and drink but the best and trusted supplement is Cod liver oil. It is rich in Omega 3 fat that helps in better growth of brain. Research proves that children who have been given cod liver oil on a regular basis display good memory and active body.

Over the period of time we barely make use of such supplements and the drug interference makes it worse along with the day-to-day life stress. This makes us prone to several mental disorders such as confusion, attention problem, foggy brain etc. We must not forget that the core brainpower has been derived from the nutrition given at early age and this would not last lifetime. We need to supplement it on a regular basis. There are many over the counter supplements available that are fortified with zinc, magnesium, folic acid and other essential nutrients for brain. But taking these supplements alone will not work wonder over brain hence we need to put in adequate exercise too. Try to challenge the memory often by engaging in memory games and other mentally challenging activities to ensure adequate supply of blood and oxygen to the brain. Taking care of heart and keeping the cholesterol and blood pressure in check also helps in clearing the arteries of any block to allow good flow of blood. Hormones, specially estrogen level should be kept in check as it affects our brain and leads to various diseases in longer run.
